Catholic Chaplain Asks Legion to Fight Bigotry

Father Robert J. White, national chaplain of the American Legion, called upon the Legion to fight religious and racial bigotry at a mass meeting of Legionnaires held at the War Memorial.

“The virtue of tolerance demands that men of every race, creed and class, receive the respect due them as sons of God,” Father White said. “Some people say toleration rests on charity. I say it rests on justice.”
