Anti-Semitic campaigns in the nearby Laurentian mountain resort area received the official sanction of Roman Catholic Church leaders at Ste. Agathe yesterday when Canon J. B. Charland, parish priest, approved the drive against the hundreds of Jewish residents of the district. Canon Charland’s approval followed appearance over the week-end of hundreds of placards warning Jews to “scram while the going is good.” The priest told his parishioners that “we must keep the district French-Canadian and must remain masters in our own community.”
