Catholic Primate of Poland August Cardinal Hlond, has branded anti-Semitic outbreaks in Poland as the “criminal action of political plotters who, by attacking Jews, fight the Government,” the Polish Press Agency reports today.
Both as a Catholic and a Pole, he condemned the anti-Jewish terrorists, the Cardinal added, according to the report. The Polish Catholic head, who received a delegation of Jews in Poznan, told them that he considered an independent Jewish state in Palestine as of first importance.
The Jews expressed their gratitude for the risks taken by nuns and Polish Catholics in hiding Jewish children and older Jews from the Germans during the occupation.
