Celebrations of Israel’s tenth anniversary were in full swing today in Rome and in other Italian cities, topped by a lengthy program of “Songs of the Promised Land” on the Italian national radio network and a huge reception held here by Eliahu Sasson, Israel’s Ambassador to Italy.
Special ceremonies were held in Rome’s main synagogue and solemn rites in the Jewish cemetery in Ravenna where soldiers of the Jewish Brigade are buried. A mass meeting will be held on Sunday April 27 in one of Rome’s biggest theaters at which documentary films about Israel will be shown. Rome’s International School has dedicated a week of study and research to the re-birth and development of the Jewish State.
