The second International Conference on Science in the Advancement of New States concluded at the Weizmann Institute here today with the adoption of a proposal by Professor Gunnar Myrdal, of Sweden, for the establishment here of a permanent International Center for Agricultural Research and Development. The Center will be part of the Rehovot National Agricultural Institute, The Conference dealt with agricultural planning for developing countries. Attending the conference were top officials from 29 countries.
In an address at the closing session, Israel Foreign Minister Golda Meir emphasized that Israel as a developing country, readily shares her experience with other countries, “I don’t believe there is any country today,” Mrs. Meir declared, “that can live secluded and isolated. We cannot solve our problems each for himself. Our problems can be solved only through cooperation.”
Deputy Prime Minister Abba Eban announced that a third conference will take place at Rehovot to deal with either the prevention of disease and the prolonging of life, or scientific education and research in developing countries.
