The forty-third annual conference of the Central Conference of American Rabbis will open in Milwaukee Thursday, June 22, and continue until the following Tuesday, it was announced yesterday. Preceding the conference, the executive board of the conference will hold an all-day session.
Among the matters to be taken up at the sessions, it was learned, will be the report of the committee headed by Dr. William Rosenau of Baltimore, “upon the advisability of instituting united counsel and action among the Jews of all lands with respect to Jewish needs and rights,” The committee was instructed last November to study the situation and report to the conference which meets next month.
The Commission of Social Justice, headed by Rabbi Edward L. Israel of Baltimore, will also report to the conference, as will the Committee on International Peace, of which Rabbi Max C. Currick, of Erie, Pa., is chairman.
Dr. H. G. Enelow, of Temple Emanu-El, New York, will read a paper on “A Century of Progress in Reform Judaism”. Rabbi Morris Newfield, of Birmingham, Ala., president of the organization, will preside over the meeting and deliver his official report at the first session. The other officers of the conference are Rabbi Samuel H. Golden-son, Pittsburgh, vice-president; Rabbi Isaac E. Marcus, recording secretary; Rabbi Harry S. Margolis, St. Paul, corresponding secretary, and Rabbi David Marx, Atlanta, treasurer.
