The CRIF, central representative body of French Jewry, is seriously split and in danger of breaking up over the question of German reparations for Israel, it is reported here today.
Members of the organization, representing all leading French Jewish groups, failed following several stormy meetings to agree on whether to support or to oppose direct Israel-German negotiations on reparations. A meeting to continue the discussions has been set for next week.
