The administration of the Central Jewish Committee of Mexico, in a surprise move, decided to dissolve the group. An official announcement said that a six-member commission has been appointed to prepare for new elections for a communal administration.
The announcement pointed out that the decision to dissolve the body was taken as a result of the “serious international developments” and their influence on the Mexican Jewish community. It is understood here that the purpose of the move is to oust all Communist members from the Committee’s leadership.
