Certain categories of Jews in Rumania will be forced to serve with the Rumanian Army under new instructions issued yesterday by the Ministry for War, it was announced today on the Bucharest radio.
The Rumanian broadcaster stated that the Minister of War had directed that all Jewish doctors, pharmacists, engineers and architects in the country will henceforth be required to serve ninety days in a “civilian capacity” with the army.
Heretofore, all Rumanian Jews have been excluded from serving in the army and have been forced to pay a large tax in lieu of service.
