Galleries in Downtown New York, Harlem, the Bronx, Williamsburg and Brownsville, have suffered greatly and in many instances have been compelled to go out of business, because of the cessation of Jewish immigration into this country.

This is the observation of those familiar with the photographic business. It is stated that this business recruited its customers largely from new arrivals, pictures being the first thing the newcomer aspires to as the best means of conveying to his relatives abroad his changed economic status and improved appearance.
