Appointment of Dr. Judah I. Goldin, of Champaign, Ill., as the first incumbent of a newly created Chair of Jewish Studies in the Graduate School of Duke University, Durham, N. C., was announced today simultaneously by Duke University and Henry Monsky, president of B’nai B’rith. Dr. Goldin has left his post as director of the B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundation at the University of Illinois to occupy the Chair of Jewish Studies. The Chair of Jewish Studies was established primarily to encourage a better understanding of the rabbinic period during which Christianity grew out of Judaism.
