The province of Carpatho-Russia has a neat little anti-Semitic problem which has challenged the efforts of the Jewish community to stamp it out.
M. Rozsypal, president of the province, a short time ago summoned representatives of the Jewish community in Uzhorod, capital of the province. He told them in no uncertain terms that he will not be responsible for the growth of the anti-Semitic movement here He said, no less bluntly, that if the Jewish community wished to combat the movement it was up to the community to take steps to amend the situation as best they could.
The Juedische Stimme, printed in Munkac, in sharp editorial comment objects to the attitude taken by the president of the province, and avows the belief that it is the job of the government to take a hand in the effort to stamp out racial hatred.
Committees are being organized by Jews in the community, says the Juedische Stimme, but support by authorities is necessary.
