A conference of representatives of the Palestine Chambers of Commerce was held here yesterday under the chairmanship of Colonel Symes, Chief Secretary to the Palestine Government. Seventeen delegates were present from the Jerusalem Chamber of Commerce and from Jewish and Arab Chambers of Commerce in Jaffa and Haifa.
There were also present Mr. Davis, the Treasurer to the Palestine Government, Colonel Holmes, the General Manager of the Palestine Railways, Mr. Stead, Director of Customs and Trade, and Mr. Drayton, Acting Attorney General.
The meeting discussed a number of questions, including the Stamps Ordinance, the Government’s customs policy, customs relations with Syria, railway rates and fares, and the creation of a Bank of Emission by the Government.
The Government representatives said that the proposals put forward by the delegates from the Chambers of Commerce would be placed before the Government for consideration.
William B. Blumenthal, director of the Jewish, Center of Cleveland has re-singed from his post.
Mr. Blumenthel will leave the middle of this ## for Palestine where he will make a three mouth’s tour.
On his return he will assume the position of regional director of the ## Palestine Appeal in Indiana and Michigan.
