It was revealed today that Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain during his week-end tour of South Wales, visited a chrome leather factory started a year ago by two German Jewish refugees which is now employing 200 Welsh ex-miners. Commenting editorially on the visit, the News-Chronicle said that the factory constituted “practical refutation of the argument that refugees are displacing British workers.”
Meanwhile, Parliament has adopted a bill enabling refugee doctors to practice in country centers which are now without practitioners. The measure also provides for granting certificates of registration to eight foreign specialists yearly. Twenty-four doctors have applied for such certificates.
