Chancellor Bruno Kreisky said Tuesday that Austria may present a resolution to the UN General Assembly which reportedly calls for direct negotiations between all parties to the Middle East dispute, including Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization as the representative of the Palestinian people. It urges Israel and the Palestinian people to enter into exploratory talks without preconditions but calls for Israel’s recognition of Palestinian rights and Palestinian recognition of Israel’s right to exist. The resolution was reputedly inspired by several Arab countries.
