A delegation representing the Chief Rabbinate of Palestine, consisting of Rabbis Kook and Meier, yesterday visited Sir John Chancellor in connection with the letter addressed to the Chief Rabbinate by the “Aksa,” Moslem Wailing Wall Society, denying the Jews the right of organized worship at the Wailing Wall, and prohibiting them from “any ceremony or the installation of objects, or the raising of the voice,” as an encroachment on Arab religious rights.
The High Commissioner of Palestine, the correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency is informed, advised the Rabbinical delegation to refer the letter to the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry which is now holding its sessions here.
Rabbi Chaim Sonnenfeld yesterday issued an appeal asking for a reconciliation between the Jews and the Arabs in the Wailing Wailing Wall dispute, assuring the Arabs that the Jews make no claims to the Mosque area and desire only free access to the Wall for prayers.
