Charged with Murdering Millions at Oswiecim Plead Not Guilty in Polish Court

Forty Nazi administrators and foremen at the Oswie##death camp who are on trial at Cracow charged with responsibility for the murder ##,000,000 persons, including 1,500,000 Jews, have pleaded not guilty and insist ## they do not remember ever having ordered the execution of any Jews.The diary of one of the defendants carries a notation that what took place at ##ecim would make Dante’s “Inferno” a comedy. The diary was kept by Dr. Paul Krem, ##.S. physician who is charged with using inmates as human guinea pigs and with being present when prisoners were beaten to death merely to check on how much torture ##n could endure before he perished.

Witnesses have testified that following the arrival in the prison yards of ##ry transport of deportees a Red Cross truck would bring up a sufficient quantity ##poison gas to murder the prisoners. It was also stated that the prisoners were ##jected to systematic starvation so that men and women who were finally gassed to ##th weighed little more than children.A five-man delegation headed by Col. James L. Harbourgh is observing the ##al for the American military government which extradited many of the Nazis to Po##.
