The Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities will continue its campaign until the $500,000 sought to meet the budgetary necessities of its constituent societies is obtained, County Judge Algeron I. Nova, chairman of the drive, said yesterday.
“I call on our entire list of workers, those faithful people who labor so consistently in behalf of the poor and needy, not to lag in their endeavors to raise money to meet the appeals of the distressed thousands here. Success of this drive means that the sick, destitute and generally unfortunate people in our community will not suffer during the fall and winter, and I have no doubt that we will soon have the $500,000 which is so vitally needed.”
Divisions of the Trade and Membership Council, fund-raising organization of the Federation, are increasingly active in canvassing for contributions, it was stated by Samuel Salzman, chairman of the Council, with hundreds soliciting in Booklyn and Manhattan.
Mr. Salzman announced that the Brooklyn – Queens Milk Dealers’ Association aiding the Federation has raised more than $1,100 of its $3,000 quota and it is expected that the allotment will be completed soon. The Junior Federation realized approximately $2,500 through its “marine sport dance,” held at the Half Moon Hotel, Coney Island, and completed its $7,500 quota in the Brooklyn Federation’s $500,000 twenty – fifth anniversary campaign.
