An increase of more than 14,000 over 1933 in the number of needy and destitute persons fed, clothed and given medical aid by the Gates of Mercy Centre, was announced yesterday by Municipal Court Justice Jacob S. Strahl, honorary president, in the organization’s report for the year ending December 31, 1934.
The report shows that during the past year 157,000 men, women and children received various forms of relief, as compared with 143,000 in 1933.
