Charles I. Cooper has been named Executive Secretary of the Jewish Philanthropies of this city, it was announced by Arthur Brin of the Jewish Family Welfare Association.
Mr. Cooper has for many years been known in the field of Jewish social work, having held the office of Superintendent of the United Hebrew Relief Association of Pittsburgh for ten years. In 1919 he was a member of Unit Number 1 of the Joint Distribution Committee, under the direction of Dr. Boris D. Bogen. Mr. Cooper held the directorship of the relief work in the city of Warsaw during the winter of 1919, which was regarded as the most acute relief problem in the postwar reconstruction work of the J.D.C. While in Pittsburgh, he was a member of the teaching staff of the Duquesne University.
