Ground was broken here for a new six-story building to house the Jewish Federation of Chicago, the Combined Jewish Appeal and several of the social welfare agencies supported by the federation. The $1, 476, 000 building is scheduled to be ready for occupancy in the Spring of 1958. Mayor Richard J. Daley was the major speaker at the groundbreaking ceremonies.
