President Walter Dill Scott of North-western University praised the work of the Jewish People’s Institute in his address at the formal opening of the $1,000,000 Lawndale branch of the institution.
“This institution is an agency that from now on will exercise a helpful influence in promoting peace and as such is welcomed by all who are interested in great cosmopolitan centers,” the educator declared.
Among the other speakers on the program were Jacob Loeb, president of the institution, Julius Rosenwald, David Kinley, president of the University of Illinois; Willoughby Walling, president of the Chicago Institute of social agencies; Rabbi Saul Silber, president Hebrew Theological College of Chicago; Philip Seman, executive director of the Institute, and James Davis, treasurer.
