Dr. Robert Goldfarb, a Jewish scientist at the Chicago Medical School has succeeded in isolating a protein from ragweed pollen which tests indicate is the agent that causes the allergic reaction in hay-fever sufferers. He outlined his discovery in a paper presented yesterday to the fifth International Congress on Biochemistry currently meeting in Moscow.
Dr. Goldfarb’s work, which climaxed ten years of tests of substances from ragweed pollen, could give medical science the means to build up more thorough and lasting protection in susceptible persons.
