The South Shore Temple of Chicago has approved a policy under which payments rendered to its rabbi for services to congregants will be turned over to the synagogue.
The arrangement provides that the funds be turned over to the synagogue with the consent of the congregant who receives the rabbi’s services. The custom generally is for a rabbi to retain such payments as part of his rabbinical income.
