A Chicago rabbi, Dr. Ahron Opher, spiritual leader of South Shore Temple, will become chief rabbi of the United Progressive Jewish Congregations at Johannesburg, South Africa, and head of the Reform movement in the Republic of South Africa, it was announced here today. He will assume his new post next September. He has resigned from South Shore Temple, here effective August 1.
