Chief Justice Harlan Fiske Stone received the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws today at the inauguration of Rabbi Samuel Belkin as president of Yeshiva College. The degree of Doctor of Divinity was bestowed, at the same time, upon Rabbi Isaac Rubinstein of Vilna, who was a member of the Polish senate for 26 years.
Rabbi Belkin, who is only 33 years old, succeeds the late Dr. Bernard Revel, who founded and was first president of the college. Before his election to the presidency, Rabbi Belkin served as dean and professor of Talmud and Professor of Hellenistic Literature in the Bernard Revel Graduate School, a department of the college.
