Lt. Gen. E. L. M. Burns, commander of the United Nations Emergency Force, who is visiting United Nations headquarters today, has declared that the situation along the Israel-Egypt border is “static,” with fields being worked by Israelis and by Egyptians “right up to the border.” However, the UNEF commander cautioned, “in that part of the world, you never know when the wind is going to change.”
Gen. Burns arrived here yesterday to make himself available for questioning by the General Assembly’s Budget and Administrative Committee, which has scheduled its annual debate of the UNEF budget.
