A proposed law prohibiting marriage of children under 15 for Moslem, Jewish and other communities in Palestine, was forwarded today by the government to the heads of the different religious groups, soliciting their opinions on this matter.
The measure provides that no minors be permitted to marry unless proper medical examination proves that the girl will not be hurt by consummation. The marriage of minors is widespread in Palestine among Arabs and Sephardic Jews.
