The Chilean Government regards anti-Semitism as “demoralizing,” supports the Jewish homeland in Palestine and sympathizes with the plight of the Jews, Foreign Minister Cristobel Saenz told a Jewish delegation in a long audience yesterday.
Chile’s suspension of immigration is only temporary, pending issuance of legislation governing immigration, the Foreign Minister said. He received from the delegation a memorandum containing a plan for immigration of Jews who could be utilized in productive occupations.
The delegation included Molina of the Chilean Anti-Racist Institute and Dr. M. Helman, Dr. A.S. Yuris and Prof. Lipschitz of the local branch of the World Jewish Congress.
