A bequest of $20,000 to the Home for Jewish Children in Dorchester was made by James C. Knowles late member of the dry goods firm of Timothy Smith Company, Roxbury, according to the will of the deceased which was filed in Suffolk Probate Court.
The deceased left an estate of $750,000 most of which goes to public charitable institutions. The gift to the Jewish Home for Children is among the largest on the list.
