Two cases of typhoid fever and a third ?pected case have been discovered among the 4,400 Exodus refugees confined in the ?endorf and Am Stau Camps, near here.
Following the medical officers’ report, the British authorities have taken ?ated steps to improve conditions at the camps, sending in a water supply engineer promising to fulfill certain requests which the refugees made several weeks ago, ?uding placing an empty barracks at the disposal of families with infants. The ?orities also promised to rescind such restrictive orders as that barring food to ?ons who lost their ration cards.
The JDC is continuing to send food into the camps in an effort to make up for poor, frequently inedible food provided by the British. The Jewish Agency has in school supplies, which were badly needed.
