Passage by Congress of the Palestine resolution, which calls for free immigration into and colonization of Palestine looking towards establishment of a Jewish Commonwealth there, was urged yesterday by the annual convention of the CIO, meeting here.
Demanding that “steps be taken to effect the immediate rescue of Jews in Axis-dominated countries,” the CIO resolution urged upon Britain “the unequivocal removal of the White Paper policy, and the full implementation of the Balfour Declaration towards the ultimate establishment of a Palestinian Jewish Commonwealth in accordance with the principles of democratic action.” It endorsed the “expressions of support for Jewish rights in Palestine which have come during the past year from Ieaders in all walks of life in the United States, the most notable of which was the stirring and historic declaration of the President of the United States.”
Earlier, the convention urged enactment of legislation making anti-Semitism a crime punishable by imprisonment and also asked passage of the Lynch Bill, now before Congress, which would bar anti-Semitic and racist literature from the mails.
