The first local council of Circassians in Israel opened at Kfar Kama, near Attabor, today. The first non-Jewish body of its kind in Israel, the Circassian council was set up by the department of self-government of the Ministry of Interior. Kfar Kama has a population of 800 and took an active part in the Israel war of liberation. Although the Circassians are Moslems, they serve in the armed forces of Israel.
