The Fall Bulletin of the National Conference of Jews and Christians, of which Newton D. Baker, Roger W. Straus and Professor Carlton Hayes are co-chairmen, out yesterday, declares editorially that concerted efforts are urgently needed to resist “introduction of Old World animosities.”

“The course of events in other parts of the world, where religious and racial bitterness is being exploited,” the editorial says, “demonstrates … the urgency of concerted efforts here to resist the introduction of Old World animosities and to maintain the best American traditions of justice, understanding and friendship among the groups that make up the American people.

“The need for the continued study of the occasions for distrust and misunderstanding that threaten the mutual relationships of Protestants, Catholics and Jews is evident. The possibilities of cooperation in common social tasks must be further explored.”
