Twenty-three communities in sixteen states have organized local Citizens Committees on Displaced Persons to arouse public opinion in favor of the Stratton bill, HR 2910, to admit 100,000 displaced persons into the United States annually for four years, it was announced today by Earl G. Harrison of Philadelphia, national chairman. Fourteen other local committees are in the process of formation, Mr. Harrison said.
Committees are now functioning in Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Detroit, Philadelphia, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Portland, Oregon, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Newark, Louisville, Rochester, Syracuse and several other cities, Mr. Harrison disclosed.
