Praise for Samuel H. Hofstadter, the only Republican State Senator from New York City, is contained in a report on the records of the members of the New York state legislature issued last week by the Citizens’ Union. Mr. Hofstadter is characterized in the report as “the city’s chief legislative asset.” The records of the other three Jewish state senators from New York City, Philip M. Kleinfeld, Henry G. Schackno and Benjamin Antin, all democrats, are characterized in the report as not displaying enough aggressiveness.
