An important economic step was made today by the High Commissioner of Palestine in appointing a special Citrus Transportation and Marketing Committee, the purpose of which will be to faciliate the greater export of oranges from Palestine to foreign countries.
Half of the committee will consist of Jews, the remainder to be made up of Arabs and two Englishmen.
The insufficient attention paid by the Palestine government to transport facilities has long been criticized by Jews as well as by Arabs here. It has been pointed out that the inadequacy of transport facilities is seriously hampering the entire export from Palestine and especially the export of citrus fruits. Inquiries on this subject have been made also in the British Parliament on numerous occasions.
