A parchment scroll of the Book of Esther was presented today to Mayor Robert F. Wagner in ceremonies at his office marking the 45th anniversary of the founding of Hadassah.
The Mayor, in a prepared speech read by Deputy Mayor Theobald, said he wished “the world were more concerned with the health and welfare of the people of the Middle East” and less with “power politics.”
The ceremonies signaled the start of a national campaign to enroll 45,000 new members. The presentation to the Mayor was made by Dr. Miriam Freund, national president.
