The City of New York yesterday honored Alexander Kahn, general manager of the Jewish Daily Forward, on the occasion of his 80th birthday by presenting him with a plaque expressing “recognition for his exceptional services to our city.”
The plaque was presented to Mr. Kahn by Mayor Robert Wagner at a special ceremony in City Hall in the presence of labor leaders and leaders of the Liberal Party of which Mr. Kahn is one of the founders. Adolph Held, president of the Forward Association, which publishes the Jewish Daily Forward, introduced to the mayor the leaders of a delegation of more than 100 personalities who came to City Hall to attend the ceremony.
