With $5,000 already transmitted to the national office of the Jewish National Fund, the Milwaukee campaign committee has pledged itself to raise $45,000 more in the next five years for the establishment of a “Milwaukee colony” in Palestine.
The $5,000, raised during a recent drive, was sent as a down payment for purchase of $50,000 worth of land in the name of Milwaukee Jewry. The tract is to be known as “Nachlat Milwaukee” and is scheduled to settle 600 families.
This is the first time any city has purchased Palestinian land in its own name and pledged itself, through a resolution and contract, to raise a definite sum for establishment of such a colony.
