The Baron de Hirsch Trade School, 222 East Sixty-fourth street, will be turned over to the Board of Education for five years on or about February 1 at $1 a year, it was learned yesterday. The transfer places the positions of the nine teachers currently employed at the school in jeopardy.
At a special meeting the Board of Education approved an offer, previously accepted by the Board of Superintendents, by virtue of which the school will become an annex of the Central Building Trades Continuation School, 220 East Sixty-third street.
George Weinberger, assistant to Associate Superintendent John E. Wade, told the Jewish Daily Bulletin yesterday afternoon the teachers now at the institution will be required to obtain licenses from the Board of Examiners in order to continue in their profession as members of the public school system.
