This Passover Jewish housewives in five Orthodox Jewish neighborhood will be helped in their housecleaning chores by New York City’s Sanitation Department. Rabbi Samuel Schrage, executive director of the Mayor’s Neighborhood Action Programs, announced today that arrangements were made with the Sanitation Department to pick up bulk refuse on Tuesday March 28 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the neighborhoods of Crown Heights, East Flatbush, Washington Heights-Inwood-Fort Tryon, Laurelton and the Grand Concourse.
Large open sanitation trucks will make the rounds of these neighborhoods on Tuesday picking up all refuse. Schrage noted that in these neighborhoods, where thousands of Orthodox Jews reside, Passover cleaning is a major concern. Recognizing that Jewish housewives will be busily engaged in housecleaning. It was decided that this special bulk pickup arrangement would be helpful in these communities. Similar arrangements are being made for other neighborhoods with large Jewish population.
