The spread of the scarlet fever epidemic in Poland’s capital has directed the attention of the city government to inquire into the sanitary conditions in the Jewish quarter of Warsaw.
The governmental commissioner of the city of Warsaw visited the Jewish quarter yesterday for the purpose of inspecting the sanitary conditions. He established that the streets in that quarter and the yards of the houses were greatly neglected. As a result of this, the commissioner urged the city government to take immediate steps to improve this state of affairs, as well as to see to it that a greater number of parks be laid out in the Jewish quarter.
A conference of Jewish press representatives was called for the purpose of enlisting their support in a health campaign.
