Jewish and non-Jewish civic and communal leaders of this city gathered yesterday at a luncheon welcoming Prof. Solomon Mikhoels and Lieut.-Col. Itzik Feffer, the Soviet Jewish delegation now visiting the Jewish communities throughout the nation. Among those present were Mayor Cornelius D. Scully and the British, Yugoslav and Czech consuls. Louis Caplan, prominent local Jewish leader, presided.
Last night Prof. Mikhoels and Lieut.-Col. Feffer addressed a capacity audience in Carnegie Musical Hall here, to whom they described the tremendous contribution made by Russian Jews to the Soviet war effort.
