Claims filed by Jews who suffered financial losses during the Nazi occupation of France have increased sharply, according to a French commission. The Drai Commission, which was appointed by the French government in 1999 to administer reparations to Jews who incurred “material or professional losses” during the occupation, cited a recent media campaign in France and the United States for the increase in petitions during the past two months.
