Formation of a committee to fight for liberalization of the McCarran-Walter Immigration and Naturalization Act was effected here today when representatives of Cleveland civic and religious groups met at the YMCA and set up the Cleveland Committee on Immigration.
Affiliation of the Jewish Community Federation of Cleveland with the new group was announced by Max Freedman, president of the Federation. Mr. Freedman pointed out that the Cleveland committee is composed of “responsible representation from Catholic, Protestant, Negro, labor, ethnic and civic groups.”
