The Jewish Welfare Fund Appeal opened officially this week with a record first report totaling $4, 544, 068. Last year’s opening figure was $4,322,311. Goal of the 1966 campaign, which closes on May 12, is the all-time high of $6,220,000.
The annual campaign is sponsored by the Jewish Community Federation, of which David N. Myers is president. Samuel B. Miller, general chairman, presided at the dinner meeting. Guest speaker was Louis Broido, chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee. Henry L. Zucker, executive vice-president of the Federation is campaign director.
