Cleveland Jewry joined with Jews in New York and other American cities in protesting against the outrageous Arab massacres of Jews in Palestine at a huge meeting held last night at the Jewish Center Synagogue.
About 4,000 persons packed the synagogue and hundreds were unable to gain admittance. Assistant Prosecutor Ralph Herz was chairman. Rabbi B. R. Brickner, Isaac Carmel, Mrs. Herzog, president of the Jewish Welfare Federation, were the speaekrs.
A resolution was adopted in which the removal of Acting High Commissioner H. C. Luke and other officials from Palestine was demanded. The resolution expressed the demand that the London government make clear its attitude toward the Balfour Declaration.
A definite and final settlement of the Wailing Wall controversy and due regard for the historic Jewish rights, as well as the right to arm Jews for self-defense were also demanded. The resolution will be transmitted to Secretary Stimson and the British Ambassador in Washington, Sir Esme Howard, by Congressman Charles Mooney of Cleveland.
A campaign for relief funds was opened and several thousand dollars subscribed.
A message to Premier MacDonald in London was sent by the Socialist party in Cleveland, requesting prompt and decisive action to be taken by Great Britain in settling the outbreak of the Arabs against the Jews in Palestine.
