The establishment of a Jewish Welfare Fund has been approved of by the Jewish Welfare Federation, according to an announcement by Sol Reinthal, president of that organization. The purpose of this fund is to provide for such local needs as are not taken care of by the Community Fund, the needs of Jewish national relief agencies and foreign relief.
“In projecting this fund, we are following the precedent set us by San Francisco, Los Angeles, Detroit, Cincinnati, Baltimore and other large cities where the Jewish Welfare Funds have already been established,” said Mr. Reinthal. “Not alone have these Funds taken over the support of national agencies and foreign relief, but they have also been including the demands of Palestinian work and of cultural agencies here and abroad.”
The Fund was approved by a vote of the executive committee of the Federation, which took this action under the direction of the board of trustees.
