ZACUTO CHART USED BY COLUMBUS EXHIBITED AT SEMINARY RECEPTION

A counterpart of the perpetual almanac which was used by Columbus on his voyage of the discovery of America was exhibited at the reception to new members of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America held last night in the auditorium of the Seminary. The author of this rare document was Abraham Zacuto, a Spanish Jew of that period. The Seminary also displayed a manuscript containing the rare signature of Moses Maimonides, the great Jewish scholar, philosopher, and physician of the Twelfth Century. These and other manuscripts are part of the library of the institution which is said to have the rarest collection of Jewish books in the world.

Dr. Cyrus Adler, President of the Jewish Theological Seminary, presided. Gerald Warburg rendered a number of selections on the cello.
